AN Only Fools and Horses fan hopes to make a nice little earner — by flogging the carpet from Del Boy’s flat at £400 a pop.

The enterprising punter has had the authenticated and individually numbered 1ft 8ins squares bound as mats and is aiming to shift 80 in all.

Eight of the first ten pieces of the red and gold flower-patterned covering from the Trotter family flat in Nelson Mandela House in Peckham had sold by last night.

It was used in the sitcom’s 2001, 2002 and 2003 Christmas specials so Del Boy (David Jason) and brother Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) will have walked over it.

Thousands will also have trodden on it at conventions, says the Essex-based seller, trading as The Only Fools and Horses Fan Club.

A TV insider said: “It’s not clear how they’ve come by this iconic piece from the Trotter home, but they’re certainly channelling Del Boy’s eye for making a fast buck.

“They suggest the pieces would look good framed and hung up on a wall as art but I think it’s very likely that they’ll only appeal to die-hard fans of Only Fools.”

Among other memorabilia from the show, which ran from 1981 to 2003, to be auctioned are one of Del’s Reliant Regal Supervans which made £42,000 in 2017.
