I AM sure you can think of plenty of public figures you’d like to see behind bars.

And if this pair are on your list of potential “prisoners”, you are in luck.

I can reveal Laurence Fox and former “tractor porn” Tory MP Neil Parish have signed up to a new reality show called HMP, which does just that.

The pair, who I am told have earned around £20,000 each for the gig, will start filming the Channel 4 show later this month.

Former Lewis actor Laurence has become a controversial political campaigner.

Meanwhile, ex-politician Neil resigned last year after admitting he watched pornography in Parliament.

He said the first time was accidental after looking at a tractor website, but the second occasion was deliberate.

A source said: “Laurence and Neil are both on board for HMP and will be locked up later this month.

“Both have said they’re excited about the challenge and will be living like real-life prisoners, with proper ex-criminals.

“Laurence is a really divisive figure and there will be a lot of people tuning in to watch him get a bit of fictional justice.

"The same goes for Neil. It’s a bit of a career low for him.

“As if getting caught watching porn in the Commons and having to quit your job as an MP wasn’t bad enough, he is trying to relaunch his career on a TV show.

“Both Laurence and Neil will be paired up with a former prisoner and locked up in a cell to get an idea of what prison is really like.”

I have to admit this has made me even more excited about the show.

It’s an interesting concept and ultimately Channel 4 wants viewers to really think about prison and whether it still works in terms of rehabilitating criminals.

Getting to watch Laurence sweat inside a small cell will give us all a bit of a laugh too.

And I hope someone has told Neil he won’t be able to have his phone . . .

NICK EATS PIE AT SI’S

NICK GRIMSHAW was invited to lunch in Simon Cowell's garden – and said the grub was like “school dinners”.

The TV and radio presenter told Waitrose’s Dish podcast with Angela Hartnett: “Simon loves really simple food, which I love, like school dinners.

"We had like a shepherd’s pie or a cottage pie, and then after when it got to one in the morning and everyone wanted a snack, someone made ham and cheese sandwiches.”

TATE’S NO TO RULE CANADA

CATHERINE TATE could have been the Queen of Canada – before she decided to set her new BBC sitcom in Australia.

The actress originally pitched the idea for Queen Of Oz in Toronto but TV bosses were “too slow to say yes” to her role as the fictional Princess Georgiana.

Catherine said: “While we were in the café between meetings, I said, ‘I think this might be better situated to Australia’.

“We’re still waiting to hear back from the Canadians.”

Catherine added of her new character: “She’s a reluctant Queen as she really thought she was going to live out her life going to parties.

“She’s very difficult, very hard to work for and doesn’t make it easy for anyone.

"She’s spoilt, entitled and deeply unpleasant, which of course makes her great to play.”

THE VEST IN SHOW

THERE may have been a few boos in the auditorium when Viggo Venn won Britain’s Got Talent, but the show’s stars made their approval highly visible.

Co-host Ant McPartlin and wife Anne-Marie Corbett shared a hi-vis vest the Norwegian comic is famous for as they left the BGT final at Hammersmith Apollo in West London on Sunday night.

Judge Amanda Holden, not normally the type to workwear, did the same after her radio show yesterday.

Voting figures were released yesterday too, and Viggo got 22 per cent of the public vote, compared to second-placed dancer Lilliana Clifton, who got 13.1 per cent.

With the moans, Viggo will be crying himself all the way to the bank with his £250,000 winnings.

Good for him.
