A CRUNCH clash in the battle to secure European football takes place at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon when Tottenham are the visitors.

Here are the latest match odds for Aston Villa vs Tottenham.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham betting preview

The top seven Premier League finishers will all be playing European football next season but that also means one of these sides may well miss out.

Spurs come into the contest holding sixth place (although Brighton have two games in hand and are only two points behind). Villa, meanwhile, are eighth and with only two games to go after this one, know they can’t really afford to lose.

Unfortunately for them, they’ve hit a bit of a bad patch.

It’s hard to criticise them since Unai Emery took the reins – they’ve certainly surged up the table – but the last few weeks have not been good.

Villa have scored just two goals in their last four games, winning only one. Their last two have brought defeats to Manchester United and, more worryingly, Wolves.

Spurs haven’t had such goalscoring problems with the remarkable Harry Kane showing no sign of slowing down.

He’s now scored in nine of his last 11 for club and country and will doubtless be eyeing the 30 mark in the Premier League – he’ll need four more in the last three games to achieve that for only the second time in his career.

With Kane firing, Spurs have now scored in their last nine but it’s keeping them out which has been the problem, especially on the road.

Last week (at home to Palace) was their first domestic clean sheet since February, while away from home they’ve conceded a whopping 35 goals in 17 games.

Both teams to score looks a strong possibility, although it’s not a big price, while Villa’s dip in form suggest the visitors may well get something out of this game – they do have a great record in this fixture (see below).

They are 21/10 for victory which is tempting, although you’d have thought given the European situation that they might well be happy to settle for a draw.

Aston Villa vs Tottenham best bets

Both teams over 19.5 booking points

With both sides chasing European football, this should be a competitive contest between two sides who both sit in the bottom half of the fair-play table.

There’s also a strict referee in charge with Peter Bankes one of the Premier League’s best for dishing out cards.

Both sides to collect 20+ booking points – that’s 10 for a yellow card and 25 for a red – at odds-against looks a decent bet.

Ben Davies 1+ shot

The Welshman has landed this bet in six of his last 12 starts but is on offer at 6/4 here.

He’s been a threat at set-pieces more this season and isn’t afraid to shoot when given the chance.

Such opportunities look more likely to occur when he’s playing as a wing-back, as he did in last week’s win over Crystal Palace.

Harry Kane to score at any time

Kane is a gift that keeps on giving to his backers in this market at the moment.

He’s now scored in nine of his last 11 games for club and country with only Erling Haaland having more Premier League goals than the England captain’s 26 – hitting 30 for only the second time in his career looks an achievable target.

6/4 here looks good but for a bigger price, bet365’s 11/1 about Kane scoring a header is also well worth a look – 10 of his 26 goals have come via his head, a stat which suggests there’s plenty of value in those odds.
