TOMMY TIME (5.45, nap) could take all the beating for his new yard in the Free Tips Daily On attheraces.com NH Flat Race at Newcastle on Tuesday.
The well-bred five-year-old impressed many when landing a 12-runner bumper at Kilbeggan last month.
Going easily throughout, the son of Sageburg quickened well to lead under two furlongs out before cruising 14 lengths clear of his rivals.
He was subsequently bought for 130,000 euros and can make a winning debut for trainer Philip Kirby despite a 7lb penalty.
Newcastle hosts a jumps meeting on Tuesday when Newsboy’s nap, Tommy Time, is fancied to win the final race at 5.45 At Chepstow, EYE OF THE WATER (1.30, nb) is fancied to follow up his recent eventful Bath victory in the opening Fitzdares for Free Race Streaming Handicap over a mile.
At Bath, the Ronald Harris-trained seven-year-old made smooth progress before taking the lead in the final 110 yards but then had to avoid the runner-up, Havana Goldrush, who lunged to the right to try to bite him.
In hopefully calmer waters today, my selection can go in again.
In his last 10 races, this consistent sort has only been out of the first four twice and should therefore be in the mix again.
