USE your loaf and back THE COB (2.00, nap) in the Weatherbys Hamilton Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at Huntingdon on Friday.
The nine-year-old, trained by Ben Pauling, has had three wins from 13 runs over hurdles but looked a different proposition when making his belated chasing debut over two and a half miles at Uttoxeter last month.
There, the son of Let The Lion Roar jumped well throughout bar one fence and made all to beat Cobblers Dream by 13 lengths.
His revised mark of 7lb higher should not stop him following up under Kielan Woods.
Later on the card, Gary Moore can take the Weatherbys Chatteris Fen Juvenile Hurdle for the second year in a row, this time with PERSEUS WAY (3.00, nb).
Moore took the race with Kotmask last year and has a lively candidate again on Friday.
The three-year-old was decent on the Flat, landing a Newbury handicap in September, and was runner-up in a Grade 2 on his hurdle debut at Cheltenham behind the much touted Scriptwriter in November.
My selection then won at Leicester before finishing a close third at Chepstow in a Grade 2 last time, behind Comfort Zone and Dixon Cove.
Comfort Zone had earlier run Triumph Hurdle favourite Lossiemouth to within six and a quarter lengths at Fairyhouse, so the form looks solid.
