Geordie rocker Sam Fender has proved that he's just like the rest of us when it comes to meeting our celebrity heroes.

The Seventeen Going Under chart-topper, 29, has finally met his lifelong inspiration - The Boss himself, Mr Bruce Springsteen.

Anyone who is a fan of Sam will know that his unique sound has hints of inspiration from Springsteen, and he has long gushed over the American rocker, insisting that it was songs such as Dancing In The Dark and Glory Days which made him fall in love with music.

Late last year, proud Newcastle native Sam announced that his dreams had finally come true when he was told that he and his band would be touring with The Boss in Italy, and today, that day finally came around.

The Dead Boys singer posted a wholesome photo of himself crying in the back of a car after meeting with the music icon.

Sam's eyes were full of tears and on his face, he had a look of shock and excitement as he lapped up the 'full circle' moment with his band members - who are also his longtime friends.

Springsteen is currently touring Europe with The E Street Band where Fender is set to play alongside him at the Parco Urbano G. Bassani in Ferrari tonight, and again at Rome’s Circo Massimo on 21 May.

Last November, Sam - who is often referred to as the 'Geordie Springsteen' - shared the milestone news that he would be touring with The Boss in a gushing Instagram caption.

“I’m thinking about the moment Springsteen’s music first resonated with me when I was a teenager! Next year I’m opening up for him in Italy. What the f**k is going on?” he penned at the time.

Sam, known for his massive hits Hypersonic Missiles and Saturday, spoke about the comparison between him and Springsteen back in 2021 with NME.

He said at the time: “I can’t exactly bat off those comparisons, can I? At the same time, I don’t feel worthy of that tag.

“The first time I heard it, I was like, ‘That’s f***ng sick’, but you don’t want to be riding off the coattails of The Boss for the rest of your life.

"I can write my own songs, they’re different and my voice doesn’t sound anything like Springsteen’s. I don’t have his growl - I’m a little fairy when I sing.”
