A mum has hit back at cruel trolls who slammed her for innocently cleaning her daughter's messy bedroom.

The woman faced with criticism for clearing up the mess in her daughter's "dirty" room while she was away on a school trip.

After sharing a video of the cleaning journey on popular video-streaming service TikTok, some parents claimed their children "wouldn't dare" leave their room in a similar condition.

However, Snowenne - who boasts more than 175,000 followers on account @snowenne_cleans - hit back at the vile comments as she defended her teenage daughter for finding the ordeal "overwhelming".

Since sharing the video online, the woman's post has surpassed 8.5 million views to date.

The video panned across the teenage daughter's room, which was piled with clothes and rubbish on the floor - from batteries to wrappers.

Captioning the post, she wrote: "So…it's that time again. Time to clean my daughter's messy room."

She explained: "It's time to tackle my daughter's dirty room. She's off on a school trip and I thought it was a good time to tackle it.

"My goal is to go through everything and get rid of as much as I can and to paint some of her furniture while she waits on her new furniture.

"We are still waiting to replace her carpet. We have the new floor but still don't trust her with it.

"We are hoping by the end of summer to redo her entire room but only time will tell," she added.

Since sharing the video online, the woman's post has raked in over 12,000 comments to date - where people slammed the woman for her decision.

One person commented: "My daughter is 13 and wouldn't dare leave a mess. She keeps her room immaculate. She hates dirt lol."

Meanwhile, someone else said: "You better go to a class and learn to teach her to be nicer with her room."

In response, the mum admitted: "My son was like that…unfortunately my daughter loves the mess."

A different user commented: "In my experience with people including extreme hoarders. The mess grows back. And it goes back to start 1 again. They don't learn."

Snowenne hit back: "I don't think it's a case of not learning, maybe just find it overwhelming."

On the other hand, other TikTok users praised the mum for generously tidying her daughter's room.

Someone commented: "This is so sweet of you, when I was younger my messy room swamped me so much, I'd cry to come home to this."

A second said: "My son's room looks just like that after a couple of days. Glad I'm not the only one with messy kids."
