EA Sports has started to roll out compensation in FIFA 23 to impacted players after a handful of errors in recent weeks, but mysterious Fantasy FUT Heroes Player Picks have left players confused.
There's been a fair few content mistakes during the FIFA 23 Team of the Season (TOTS) promo, with three errors having been made since the promo began a few weeks ago. As always, the TOTS promo began in FUT with the release of the Community TOTS squad, but an error saw players from that squad and the Eredivisie TOTS released early.
The same happened a few weeks later with the La Liga TOTS, with the entire squad accidentally being included in Packs two days prior to the official release. But the biggest error of all was EA releasing the Community TOTS Upgrade SBC with an incorrect description regarding what to expect in the Community TOTS Player Pack.
EA didn't mention that the Pack would also include TOTS Moments, so players who completed the SBC and received a Community TOTS Moments item were promised compensation. After almost three weeks, EA has finally handed out free Community TOTS Packs to the impacted players, but random players also have been gifted Fantasy FUT Heroes Player Picks by EA as well, leaving the FUT Community confused.
Random Fantasy FUT Heroes Player Picks handed out in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team
Earlier today, players logged in to FIFA 23 Ultimate Team to find a free Fantasy FUT Heroes Player Pick waiting for them, giving them a choice of three Fantasy FUT Heroes to choose from. Hundreds of players took to Twitter to show off their Player Pick, remaining unsure as to why they received it.
Nintendo and Steam’s success shows Sony was wrong to give up on handheldsLots of accounts on Twitter speculated the Player Pick was an act of compensation by EA after an error with a Pack released in the FUT Store a few weeks ago. The Encore Pack was released in the Promo Pack section of the FUT Store, costing players 185,000 Coins or 1,250 FIFA Points.
As well as a bunch of other items, the Pack included one Fantasy FUT Hero loan Player Pick between three players. But, the Pack description did not specify that the Fantasy FUT Heroes included were loan items.
It makes sense for this to be the reason players received the free Fantasy FUT Heroes Player Pick, but it seems that it wasn't impacted players who received it, with plenty of people on Twitter claiming they received the Player Pick despite not opening the Pack, and lots also claiming they opened the Pack and didn't receive the free Player Pick.
We've reached out to EA for clarification on why this was randomly released in FUT, though we are yet to receive any comment.
