Labour’s empty promises over NHS

SIR KEIR Starmer says only Labour is equipped to “give Britain its NHS back.”

He is fond of pointing to 13 years of Tory failure on the health service.

But how does Sir Keir square his comments with Labour’s dire management of the NHS in Wales?

Labour has had control of the Welsh health service since Tony Blair introduced devolution way back in 1999.

It has had a staggering 23 years to deliver the all-singing, all-dancing service that Sir Kier so glibly promises.

A decade MORE than the Tories have held power in England.

But far from performing better than its English counterpart, NHS Wales is in just as much of a mess and in some key areas even worse.

More money is spent per head on health in Wales than in England.

Yet, shockingly, you are more likely to die of a treatable disease under the Labour-run NHS than the Tory-run one in England.

There is no doubt that the NHS in England is in a sorry state.

But Sir Keir’s claims that he would do better must be judged against Labour’s actual record on his doorstep.

Stop gun madness

THE shooting of a seven-year-old girl is truly shocking.

In scenes reminiscent of a gangster movie, the youngster was mown down by a gunman as she left a funeral and was fighting for life last night.

This horror unfolded in the centre of London in daylight yards from Euston — one of Britain’s busiest railway stations packed with families visiting for the weekend.

It comes after the death of nine-year-old Olivia Pratt-Korbel, who was shot inside her Liverpool home last year

The government must clamp down immediately on this gun madness.

Before more innocents are caught up in this slaughter on our streets.
