A DRUNK mum dropped her baby as she was kicked off a TUI flight during a row with her boyfriend after a five-hour vodka binge.

Beth Jones, 27, and her partner Kieran Cunnah, 30, also shouted abuse at airline staff aboard the Crete-bound plane at Manchester Airport, a court heard.

Jones, a former nurse from Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester, then fumbled the couple's baby girl as Cunnah tried to pass her across the aisle, causing the tot to fall to the floor.

The mum then placed the child back on the seat but brushed past her as she tried to leave the plane, knocking her onto the floor for a second time, according to prosecutors.

The child, whose age is not known, burst into tears but, thankfully, was uninjured.

Meanwhile, Cunnah threw money at flight attendants and shouted: "How much do you want from us?

"We're poor. How much do you want, b****?"

Brian Wilson, one of the flight attendants who dealt with the couple, told Tameside Magistrates' Court: "It was the worst situation I’ve ever had to deal with, not just because they were drunk on a flight but more because they were so incapable of looking after their own child.

"When I saw the child drop from the aisle seat, I went down to pick her up but then felt Cunnah's hand on my shoulder. They were very unsteady on their feet, Cunnah even grabbed me to steady himself at one point.

"When I went back to my office, I had to take five or ten minutes to gather myself after what I had just dealt with."

Eileen Rodgers, who prosecuted the pair said that they had arrived at the airport early as there was a warning in place about security delays.

She explained: "They ended up passing through security quickly and entered the terminal 2 departure lounge where they then purchased a bottle of Ciroc vodka from the duty-free.

"They had a meal and then went for drinks at the bar before departure - however, they then found their flight had been further delayed to 4.45pm and this meant their consumption was prolonged.

"The pair decided to return to the departure lounge and finish off the bottle of Ciroc with mixers they had also bought from the duty-free."

Ms Rodgers added that the cabin crew confronted Jones and Cunnah, who were both visibly drunk, at which point the row kicked off.

Their defence lawyer, Michelle Mann, told the court that Cunnah is a "nervous flyer" and that the couple had been told by an airport bartender to order two drinks at a time because of how busy it was.

She added: "They both realized their behaviour was completely out of order and were both upset that their holiday had been ruined. Miss Jones was hysterical upon arrest and had to contact her mother to collect her child.

"This incident has had a big impact on her life. She has since resigned from her job as a nurse where she worked for 10 years. She knows she can no longer pursue a career in that field.

"They are both ashamed and humiliated about what they did, and both have shown remorse."

Both Jones and Cunnah admitted to being drunk on an aircraft and child neglect.

Jones was ordered to complete a 12-month community order, along with 20 rehabilitation days and 90 days of abstaining from alcohol, and fined £50 on top of £195 costs.

Cunnah, who is currently serving a 32-month sentence for causing serious injury by dangerous driving in an unrelated case, had his spell extended by three months and was ordered to pay £100 costs and a £128 statutory charge.

Sentencing them, Justices of the Peace told Jones: "It is a shame that you find yourself in this position when you had a career and a job you were valued and respected in and lost it all because of one stupid event.

"However, the protection of a child is very important, and we have taken this into consideration."
