Despite changing over the decades and the area getting busier, the house prices have seemingly always been cheap.

Ted Firth, 92, moved onto Crescent Road 62 years ago.

The now-retired builder and his wife June bought their home for just £1,000 - which is equivalent to about £17,000 today.

The couple live in a converted three-bed farmhouse and said it's been a "very happy house for us".

Ted told YorkshireLive: "We have lived here for 62 years and bought the three-bedroom property for £1,000 freehold.

"When we arrived there was only my van on the road and children played football on the street."

Ted and June, 85, had four kids together who now live nearby.

Another resident, Alan Bassinder, 70, bought his home on the street in 1977 for £4,000.

He said there are a lot of amenities close by and it's a great area.

Homes on another street up north are selling for just £25,000.

Meadow Street, Lancashire, has some of the cheapest houses in the country.
