Louise Thompson shares how she 'stays connected to reality' in hospital stay

Louise Thompson has revealed how she's making herself feel better and stay "connected to reality" after being confined to hospital.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 32, announced earlier this week she had to return to hospital after an "unexpected" health situation.

It comes after she spent a month in intensive care following the birth of her son Leo-Hunter Libbey, now 14 months. She is said to still suffer with PTSD and post-natal anxiety after her near-death birthing experience.

Now, taking to her Instagram Stories, she has revealed she's back in hospital, but didn't reveal why. She did however give advice to her followers on how she deals with her time in hospital.

She wrote from her bed: "What a whirlwind. Here are some things that have kept me feeling better... and by better I mean more connected to reality.

"When I was last in hospital for an extended period (felt like an eternity) I really detached from reality and couldn't even turn on a phone or concentrate on anything for longer than a minute. I've learnt a lot from that experience.

"TRY TO STAY CONNECTED AND CONTINUE AS NORMAL. Gosh, last time I even thought eating a chocolate Lindor ball that my brother bought me was going to kill me so I had to spit it out."

She went on: "Talk to whoever you can find. Whether that's nurses (don't be offended if they're at capacity and have to run off), family members over the phone, friends on WhatsApp, strangers on Instagram.

"ANYTHING TO DISTRACT YOUR MIND. It might feel really weird messaging people about such significant life threatening events as if they're daily activities, but for me it has helped normalising (or making logic) of what has happened and talking about it this time around."

Louise continued in the lengthy message to say she "waited until my brain had made sense of what had happened" before opening up on her last hospital stay.

She revealed she broke down in tears at the time after speaking to a man who worked for a charity.

Discussing the moment, she said: "I spoke to a really sweet man with the charity sweetie trolley and he made me cry because he was so nice.

"Take a selfie. It might sound weird or vain but good to remember what you look like. A quick glance in the mirror reaffirms our sense of self."

And she stated that keeping her "senses" was important to bringing her back to "reality and normality".

She said it didn't matter if it was perfume or food, but it was important to focus on, before telling her followers to make sure you eat as soon as you're allowed as taste is "one of the best senses".

She concluded her post by saying she hopes her words help others, but noted she realised it might just help her.

Her hospital stay comes as she was supposed to be flying to St Lucia. On Wednesday she shared a snap from her hospital bed and wrote: 'We were supposed to be flying to St Lucia this morning."

She admitted: "I am so upset that we aren't able to go because I really needed some sun and sea."
