The annual cheese rolling festival, which has gone on for over 200 years, attracts people from all over the world determined to keep the strange tradition alive.

Women’s winner, Canadian Delaney Irving, 19, was knocked unconscious at the finish.

She said she did not remember much of winning the women’s race after waking up in the medical tent but added it was all “worth it”.

GoPro footage filmed by The Sun in 2017 showed the 'full chaos and terror' of hurtling down the hill at full speed.

TV presenter Ben Fogle has also taken part in the annual event.

He said at the time: "I've covered all sorts of weird and wonderful events across Great Britain and this was almost the last one on my list.

"It is a lot more scary at the top than down here, believe me. When you see the photographs you have no idea just how steep it is.

"It is so slippery. The nerves... all these guys look tough but once you're up there and you are looking down, it is really nerve wracking.

"You have got to commit because once you start on that hill you can't really just gingerly descend, you have got to really go for it. It is really scary.

"I have a slightly sore shoulder but it will be okay."
