RANGERS transfer business did not stop with Dujon Sterling on Tuesday night.

The Chelsea defender sealed a four-year deal and Ibrox officials continued Michael Beale's transfer spree with late night talks on another target, according to reports.

The boss gave an outline timeframe for his goalkeeper search to reach its conclusion towards the end of last season - suggesting it would run into the first week of June.

And that prediction looks ever more accurate as the Gers held further talks with Jack Butland according to the Daily Mail.

They say Crystal palace's 30-year-old England cap held a meeting with the Light Blues over a potential move on Tuesday night - just as Sterling's signing was being confirmed.

Both have been widely discussed targets for the club - as was Kieran Dowell who signed a three-year last week after leaving Norwich.

Sunsport exclusively revealed Butland was Beale's No1 target back on April 24.

Butland has spent the second half of the season on loan at Manchester United and will be at Wembley on Saturday for the FA Cup final.

But he will be on the bench behind No1 David de Gea and it's his search for more playing time that is expected to be a key factor in his next move.

Butland is said to have found a compromise over his salary expectations which opens the door for a move to Ibrox.

And when quizzed over his next step by a fan outside Old Trafford last week, Butland was coy over his transfer future.

The fan was filmed on a Rangers fans' group on Facebook asking the 30-year-old "Are you signing for Rangers?"

Butland is either taken aback by the direct question, or mishears the question and replies: "Pardon?"

The fan simply suggests "Rangers?"

And Butland coyly responds "Maybe" before moving along the line of signature hunters.

It's enough to give Gers fans hope without giving the game away - though Beale has confirmed he expects his goalkeeping position to be fixed up in the next ten days.

Butland emerged as the number one choice when Allan McGregor's departure became evident.

The 41-year-old bid an emotional farewell to Ibrox after Wednesday's 2-2 draw with Hearts.

Robby McCrorie has been Rangers' recent first-choice keeping five clean sheets out of six.
