Schools across the UK have closed today, Tuesday, 17 January, as bitter wintry conditions thrash the UK.
The full list of school closures has been outlined, due to the risk of dangerously icy conditions on the roads and pavements because of the snow and ice warnings.
With the snow battering many parts of the UK and freezing conditions on the return, many schools across the country are being forced to close following the yellow and amber Met Office warnings.
An amber warning for snow in the north of Scotland, between Aberdeen and Inverness, has been issued from 3pm today and midnight tonight.
Meanwhile a yellow warning of ice and snow is in place for much of the country for today and heading into tomorrow morning.
Queen honoured in London New Year's fireworks before turning into King CharlesTherefore, many pupils in icy areas such as Cornwall, Scotland and Northern Ireland have been told to stay at home today.
A major health alert due to freezing temperatures has also been issued by the UK Health Security Agency due to the Arctic blast.
In Cornwall, forecasters say occasional rain and sleet will turn to snow and ice in heavier outbreaks - particularly over south Cornwall - from midnight until 9am today.
And WXCharts maps have forecast about eight inches of the white stuff to fall in Scotland in the next couple of days, as temperatures temperatures will feel as cold as -3C overnight in parts of Northern Ireland, the Met Office says.
With the snow expected to cause havoc on the roads, many schools have opted to close for the day.
Cornwall:
Numerous schools across Cornwall have been affected by the snowy conditions today, as the full list can be found here.
These schools will be closed for the day.
Scotland:
With temperatures plummeting across Scotland, all schools and nurseries in the Shetland have been closed.

Ireland:
A number of Cork schools will not open today due to the snowfall, as West Cork and parts of Kerry have seen the most schools shut.
Cork Beo reports: "Our Lady of Mercy in Bantry, St Finbarr's Colaiste Pobail, Skibbereen Community School, Schull Community College, and Timoleague NS are among those staying shut with many others also opting to do the same and move to online learning."
According to Donegal Live, Letterkenny is one of the areas worst affected and a number of schools in the town have shut today.
The website that school closures include: "They include Coláiste Ailigh, Lurgybrack NS, Woodlands NS, Ballyraine NS, Illistrin NS, Loreto Secondary School, St Eunan's College, Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal, Scoil Cholmcille NS, St Bernadette’s NS and Educate Together National School."
Some schools will close in the Finn Valley area including Deele College, Raphoe, adding: "Parts of Inishowen have also been hit by wintry conditions and among the schools that will not open today are Scoil Naomh Brid, Muff, Scoil Naomh Fionan, Whitecastle, Moville Community College and Crana College.
"Roads in and around Kilmacrennan and Milford are also reported to be extremely hazardous and Mulroy College in Milford will remain closed today."
