SKY TV owners have reported a problem when setting up their mini boxes, where the devices freeze and stay frozen even after being rebooted.

But there is a fix - and it only takes 10 minutes.

In a help forum on Sky's website, one customer explained how their Sky Q mini box was stuck on step one of four.

The circle navigation button on the remote also wouldn't co-operate.

The customer had rebooted the device many times but to no avail, which left them 'pulling their hair out' trying to find a solution.

Sky mini boxes are portable devices which allow customers to beam their viewing into other rooms inside the home using the same Sky subscription.

However, one tech savvy viewer discovered a way to solve the issue after wrestling with the problem themselves and calling Sky for help.

If you're struggling with the same problem, simply follow these steps:

On your Sky mini remote, hold buttons one and three at the same time.

This will bring up the remote settings.

Next, choose your TV brand, for example, if you have a Sony telly, click Sony.

Then, see if your volume up and down buttons work. If so, click yes.

You then need to click on the Home icon on your Sky remote.

This should bring you to the Sky Dashboard section.

Scroll down to Settings > Network > Join Internet.

"Basically, connect to your internet if the settings have an 'x' next to it as mine did," the helpful customer wrote.

Once the Wi-Fi is connected, it takes between two and three minutes to view the channels.

If you're still experiencing issues, you can find Sky's customer helpline on the broadcaster's website.
