BBC coverage repeatedly disrupted by porn noises to leave Gary Lineker red-faced

BBC Sport's coverage of Liverpool's FA Cup clash against Wolves was marred by a humiliating blunder when porn noise began to play loudly on air.

The embarrassing gaffe occured while presenter Gary Lineker was trying to bring in colleague Alan Shearer in for further analysis before kick-off. The host addressed the moment, telling viewers: "I don't know who is making that noise but Alan Shearer is on the commentary gantry.

Lineker went on to add: "It is toasty in this studio, it is noisy as well I am not sure if someone is sending something on somebody's phone."

The audio briefly stopped as Shearer replied, before starting again just as Lineker went to make another statement. And the culprits behind BBC's embarrassing porn noise blunder during their coverage of Liverpool's FA Cup clash away at Wolves have since been revealed.

YouTuber who boasts the account name Jarvo69 aka BMWJarvo went live and streamed the stunt to thousands of viewers as he explained how they had managed to tape a phone to the back of the BBC's set ready to play the explicit audio as soon as they called it.

Lineker also took to Twitter to reveal what was playing the explicit noise. The former England international posted a photo of a phone alongside the caption: "Well, we found this taped to the back of the set. As sabotage goes it was quite amusing."

All things considered, Lineker handled the situation like a true professional as he addressed the noise in light-hearted fashion before continuing as normal even with the noise still blaring for all to hear.

The BBC have since issued a statement. A spokesperson said: "We apologise to any viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening. We are investigating how this happened."

As expected, the hilarious moment has not gone unnoticed on social media, with Twitter users quickly flocking to the site to give their thoughts on one of the more memorable moments in recent sports punditry.

One user wrote: "Nahhhh porn noises on bbc 1, has to be the greatest tv moment of 2023 so far," followed by a string of laughing emojis. Another added: Porn sound track playing over the pundits talking on BBC 1 right now and they can’t stop it! It keeps coming back, and it’s been 5 minutes!!!

One of the more confused Twitter users wrote: "WHAT IS HAPPENING ON BBC ONE. WHO IS WATCHING PORN???" Another profile was equally as shocked, writing: "Nah this is happening on the big BBC @BBCSport the porn sound prank is on repeat."

It remains to be seen whether Lineker will address the issue next time he is on air when the Reds clash against Wolves is paused for half-time.
