A VET says that dog owners always forget a hidden danger at the beach which could put your pets at risk.
Dog expert Laura Playforth said that owners need to be aware of the danger as many may not even notice it's happening.
Many dogs accidentally eat sand as they run around and play at the seaside - and it could cause serious problems for their digestion.
She told VetsNow: "Believe it or not, some dogs have been known to eat sand when they visit the beach.
"Most, however, ingest it by accident through digging or repeatedly picking up sandy balls and toys.

"If a dog swallows enough sand it can cause a blockage in the intestine, which is called sand impaction.
"Signs of this serious condition, which requires urgent veterinary treatment, include vomiting, dehydration and abdominal pain."
Sand impaction is not the only danger lying in wait for your mutt at the beach.
