Upgrade to a new MacBook Air and save over £200 on the usual price tag, thanks to the latest Amazon Prime Day sale. The huge discount beats rival MacBook deals from Currys and John Lewis and Apple's own £999 price.

is in full swing with thousands of deals across all departments. But easily one of the best bargains is the 13.3-inch MacBook Air (2020) which has dropped below £780 for the first time.

While it might not be the latest MacBook Air model from Apple, there’s still a lot to love about this machine. Especially at this incredible price. It’s too good to skip.

This MacBook Air comes fitted with Apple’s custom-designed M1 chipset, which provides a huge boost to performance and battery life compared to earlier models. This portable PC can stay powered on for 18 hours before you’ll need to find a charger.

Shoppers can now pick up the MacBook Air for £779 thanks to the retailer's . For comparison, rival tech sales at and have discounted the same 2020 laptop, but both retailers are selling the MacBook Air for £849.

Amazon has discounted the MacBook Air in all three colours; Silver, Gold and Space Gray.

Shoppers can also choose to take the deal out on a monthly payment option, which breaks down to £69.29 a month. This does work out more expensive as the monthly payments include £52.43 of interest, bringing the total Prime Day price to £831.48.

Thanks to its M1 processor, the 2020 MacBook Air is still compatible with the latest macOS software, Ventura 13.3. And better still, it will get the update to the next major macOS upgrade later this year. The newer MacBook Air with M2 squeezes a larger 13.6-inch display into the same footprint, thanks to its edge-to-edge screen design. It also drops the trademark wedge shape of the MacBook Air and boosts the quality of the webcam.

Unfortunately, these improvements also come with a price rise, with the 2022 MacBook Air starting from £1,149 – that’s a £370 premium on the 2020 model. Unless you really want the latest and greatest laptop from Apple, the M1-powered laptop in the Prime Day sale will be everything you need.
