A SERIAL abuser and rapist who murdered his lover with a tyre iron has been jailed for at least 27 years.
Mark Campbell, 37, forced Jane Fitzpatrick to check out of hospital against medical advice before killing her.
He beat her about the head with the tool — and was later found by police in the driver’s seat of his car with Jane dead beside him.
Caging him at the High Court in Edinburgh, Lady Poole described the car and a nearby garage wall in Glenrothes, Fife, being covered in blood.
She told Campbell: “The murder was aggravated by it being your partner and by you being on bail.

"Our society will not tolerate domestic abuse. The sentences the courts impose on abusers must reflect that.”
The monster’s escalating abuse of women started when he was a teenager.
One former partner told the court he pushed a finger into an operation wound in her back and dragged her from a bed during a sickening assault in 2018.
Another woman was thrown down a flight of stairs by him and kicked in the stomach when she was pregnant.
Campbell also tried to force drugs and raw meat into her mouth.
A third was battered frequently and raped.
Campbell went on to subject Jane, 48, to an 11-month campaign of abuse.
The jealous thug isolated the gran from friends and family, threatened her, and tracked her movements and her social media accounts.
Before the August 2021 murder, she went to Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy unsteady from a head injury. But when she was found she had 42 fresh injuries.
Jane’s brother-in-law, dad-of-three Kenny Greenlees, 54, of Glenrothes said: “He’s a monster. Jane would do anything to help anyone.
