She said: “Firstly - hair growth shampoos.
“There is no shampoo that is directly going to make your hair grow.
You’ve been shaving your legs wrong - my way's faster & gets them smoother“What they do, however, is make a good environment for hair growth.
“Maybe they will strengthen new hair coming through or not wear your hair down, making it easier to add volume when you style it.
“Number two - split end treatments.
“They do not work. They do not get rid of your split ends.
“What they do is seal the split end for a short period of time, making your hair appear healthier, but the only way to get rid of split ends is cutting your hair.”
The third hair myth that Rachel often hears is that cutting your hair regularly will make it grow longer.
She confirmed: “Then we have - cutting your hair more will make it grow.
“Absolutely not true. Your hair grows from your roots so you can do whatever you want to the ends. The rate of hair growth is not determined by how much you cut it.
“This next one I hear consistently all the time and it’s that your hair gets used to a shampoo.
“If you feel like your shampoo or any hair care products used to work for you and now it doesn’t, it’s probably because your hair has changed and it no longer needs that shampoo anymore.
I’m a nutritionist & here’s my easy weight loss recipe perfect for pizza lovers“Finally - shaving all your hair off will make it grow quicker and a lot of people believe this.
“It can feel true because when we cut our hair really short we notice hair growth quicker.”
Rachel’s TikTok clip, which was shared under the username @rachelvalentinehair, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 26,300 views.
Social media users were quick to agree with Rachel and many took to the comments to express this.
One person said: “I was literally thinking of why I need to change hair care every 1-1.5 years! Was thinking it’s because hair quality changes, thanks for clearing up!”
Another added: “Love your videos.”
A third commented: “"Cutting your hair makes it grow" "No.." THANK YOU. I'M SO GLAD SOMEBODY SAID IT.”
