Gloria Hunniford says her friend Sir Cliff Richard has no plans to retire as he still loves outdoing the young ones.
TV presenter Gloria added the 82-year-old singer wants to have even more No1 hits. She said: “Like me, Cliff’s so passionate about what he does – and still so competitive. He gets a real kick out of beating the modern young singers to the top spot.”
Gloria, 83, added: “We were brought up in modest circumstances. There was no money to spare in our household, and I don’t think there was in Cliff’s either. We share a strong work ethic and we still love our jobs.”
Sir Cliff – who has had 14 No1 singles and seven chart-topping albums – hopes to have another big seller this year when his book, A Head Full of Music, is released. Gloria told Best magazine Cliff is “very excited” about the book which tells of the music that influenced him.
She added to Best magazine: "He has a new book coming out in October called A Head Full of Music, which he's very excited about, he says, as 'for once, it's not about me and my career!' It's about the music that has influenced him over the years, such as Elvis. Without Elvis, Cliff wouldn't be doing what he does.
