Montana Brown’s month old son underwent a surgical procedure to correct a lip and tongue tie. The common conditions make it hard for a baby to latch on to feed, and it was going through these breastfeeding struggles that eventually led to Jude being diagnosed by a lactation consultant.
The 27-year-old told her 1.2million Instagram followers that she was so thankful for the unnamed expert’s help. She said: "We had an appointment with a lactation consultant yesterday. Jude is tongue-tied and I just wasn't expecting her to tell me that he's tongue-tied. I've had a few issues with breastfeeding.
"Just with the fact it's been quite painful since the start and obviously this explains it that he's got a tongue-tie and he's also got a lip tie as well, which I didn't notice so it's stopped him from properly latching."
“Our little man is tongue tied and honestly feel so sad for him that he has to get a little laser to release it. I’m just so glad we found out this early on but kind of kicking myself I didn’t see her [the lactation expert] sooner as our consultant was just such a wealth of knowledge. I wish I knew earlier.”
Jude was born on June 23rd and is her first child with her fiancé Mark O'Connor who she met at a NYE party in Barbados in 2020. After the initial diagnosis, Montana kept her fans in the loop, and the next day updated them about a quick laser procedure he underwent to release the ties and help him feed correctly.
Gemma Owen's mum makes cryptic 'fakery' dig after Love Island star's Luca splitTearful, she explained: “Jude has literally just had his release. I did cry so much and my heart actually still hurts despite him being absolutely fine and I know it’s the best thing for him and me. I would recommend anyone to get a lactation consultant. We had this amazing surgeon who took 7 mins to do both his lip and tongue thank god.”
She added: "I literally cried so much because they don't let you stay in the room for good reason, obviously. He's doing absolutely fine and he's completely fine, I just breastfed him and he's fine. But I am just so sad, because you were crying weren't you [she says to her baby] and it was really sad."
