It is claimed the two motorists had an argument on the roadside before the crash, reports Manilva WS.

Ray was riding his motorbike in San Pedro de Alcantara, Marbella, on Friday when a van allegedly swerved into the side of him.

The expat then veered onto the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with a car.

Spanish cops later arrested the van driver Ray allegedly rowed with.

Friends and family are set to gather today for his funeral.

In a tribute shared online, pal David Clark described Ray as "kindhearted".

He wrote on Facebook: "Ray was a lovely man, and it was a pleasure to have spent some time with him.

"I have fond memories of days and evenings out on the bikes together.

"But the best times was just having a coffee with him, he was a very down to earth chap and a pleasure to be around.

"He was fun, playful, and very mischievous, a kindhearted individual who will be missed by all."

Another friend, Deane Phillips, added: "I was proud to call him my friend and we will miss him, but he's now riding the roads of heaven giving them hell no doubt! RIP Ray."

Ray moved from the UK to Spain more than a decade ago.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
