Tommy Jessop was born on January 19, 1985 is a British actor.
He is the first actor with Down's syndrome to star in a primetime BBC drama, and to tour theatres as Hamlet.
In 2021, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of the Arts by the University of Winchester and became an Ambassador to Mencap and to the National Down syndrome Policy Group.

Tommy has become a familiar face both on TV and in short films.
His lead role in Fighter won him Best Actor at the Oska Bright Film Festival and Best Film at Film London, and was named Short of the Week at the BFI London Film Festival.
He appeared in Down & Out and Innocence, the latter of which won the Don Quixote Award at Kraków Film Festival.
On TV, Tommy starred opposite Nicholas Hoult in the feature-length BBC drama Coming Down the Mountain.

His performance was widely praised, and the film was nominated for a Television Bafta.

Called Tommy Goes To Hollywood, this BBC documentary aims to prove that people with Down's Syndrome can play heroes, but the right roles are not being offered to him.
So, inspired by the advice of his agent, Tommy decides to take matters into his own hands.
Enlisting the help of his brother, filmmaker Will Jessop, Tommy sets off to make his own superhero movie.
He names his superhero Roger, in honour of his teddy bear, and bases Roger’s superpowers on his own experiences of being someone with Down syndrome.
Tommy sometimes feels as if the world does not understand or value people like him – he, and his super-powered alter ego, are determined to change that.
His dream is to pitch Roger the Superhero in Hollywood.
The brothers call in every favour they can think of and use guerrilla tactics as they try to get the movie off the ground.
Who is Tommy Jessop's brother Will?
Tommy's brother Will Jessop is also in the entertainment industry.
He is an Emmy-nominated documentary filmmaker, known for The Diana Investigations, 25 Siblings & Me, Manchester: A Year of Hate Crime, and and Growing Up Down's.
Previously speaking about how proud he is of his brother Tommy, Will told The Sun: “Tommy can’t really tie his own shoelaces but he can stand on stage and break your heart.”
Is Tommy Jessop married and does he have children?
As of August 2023, Tommy doesn't have any children, nor is he married.
However, the actor revealed in his documentary Tommy Goes To Hollywood that he wants to meet someone.
When talking about finding a leading lady for his superhero movie, he also admitted he was hoping to find someone special to spend his life with in the future.
Tommy revealed: "I might also be a man on a mission to find a special someone at some point in my life.”
