ASTON VILLA star Leon Bailey is at the centre of a police investigation after a supporter accused him of assault following Sunday's victory over Everton at Villa Park.

Villa and West Midlands Police are looking into the incident, which took place inside the stadium, around one hour after the final whistle

SunSport understands a man entered Bailey's private box in the Trinity Road Stand as the 26-year-old winger relaxed with his family, after scoring in Villa's 4-0 victory.

Bailey's heavily pregnant partner and four-year-old son were with him at the time of the incident.

The supporter requested an autograph and photographs of Bailey, with the supporter's son, which Bailey declined.

A row ensued and it is claimed the fan reacted aggressively, which allegedly resulted in the Jamaican international pushing him to the floor.

Police were called by Villa security staff working on site and the fan in question is understood to have given a statement to police.

It is claimed there is CCTV footage of the interaction, as well as several witnesses who have given their version of events.

West Midlands Police released a statement which stated: "We're investigating after a man at Aston Villa Football Club was allegedly assaulted at just after 5pm on Sunday.

"Officers will be speaking to all those involved and we are liaising with officials at the club to establish the full circumstances.

"Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with information can get in contact via Live Chat on our website or on 101, quoting log 2940 of 20 August."
