Alison Hammond has shared her thoughts on "failure" as she broke her silence over the National Television Awards.
The TV presenter joined her This Morning co-stars for the biggest night in television at London's O2 on Tuesday night, in the hopes of taking home some top awards. However, Alison lost out on the best TV presenter gong to Ant and Dec and This Morning was booed as the show lost out on its daytime award for the first time in over a decade.
Alison has since taken to her social media to reflect on the night. She posted a snap of herself with her colleagues including Holly Willoughby and Dr Scott Miller. The TV star wrote: "What a night of happiness at the @officialntas with @thismorning , we had the best time. Thanks so much for all your love support and votes and allowing us to be there . I’ll be honest it was so nice watching the whole show with @joeldommett in our seats.
"Sometimes failing can be your biggest success well done to @therepairshoptv and @antanddec , you all totally deserved the Win." This Morning missed out on the Daytime gong for the first time in 13 years after being faced by Loose Women, The Chase, and The Repair Shop, which took the award. The Repair Shop star Jay Blades gave the winner's speech on Tuesday night before he went to hug other celebs and fellow nominees in the audience.
The gracious star jogged into the crowd towards the This Morning hosts in a touching moment, however fans noticed an awkward moment. They believe he was heading for Alison before Holly jumped up and went in for a hug instead – accidentally interrupting the moment between Alison and Jay. Fans took to Twitter to point out the gaffe, as one said: "Go the Repair Shop well deserved . So humble and you didn't need to skip a queue or fall out with each other."
Bernice Blackstock suffers new blow in Emmerdale as she struggles with illness"#NTAs repair shop went to hug Alison but Holly had to jump in first. Always jumping the queue," another added. As one noticed: "Holly looks likes she’s about to burst into tears when the repair shop won the award." Holly made her first solo appearance at the NTAs as she walked the red carpet alone in a purple dress.
This year’s NTAs is the first one since Phillip Schofield's dramatic exit from ITV earlier this year. Schofield, 61, resigned from ITV and was dropped by his talent agency YMU in May after admitting to an "unwise but not illegal" relationship with a younger male colleague on the show. Prior to admitting the workplace affair, Schofield quit This Morning days before making the revelation.
Holly also broke her silence on missing out on the award during Wednesday's This Morning. Holly said: "A huge congratulations to The Repair Shop, well done you! Jay Blades, a lot of love to him, he ran over to us, gave us all a big cuddle, which I thought was just such class and gorgeous. I actually didn't want to let go, good hugs, Jay Blades!"
She added: "A massive thank you as well just for voting for us, getting us through to the shortlist. You look at that, you've got The Chase, Loose Women, The Repair Shop, us, just to make it to there was just so wonderful so thank you always for your love and support!"
After the event ended, the presenter took to her Instagram page to pay tribute to Jay. Along with a black-and-white selfie with the Repair Shop host, she wrote: "To this gorgeous man @jaybladesmbe and the whole team at the @therepairshoptv … Hugest Congratulations!!! And what a night for the incredible Sarah Lancashire… @joeldommett thank you for a great night… See you in the morning."
This Morning bosses were said to be concerned about whether the presenting team - which includes the likes of Holly Willoughby, Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary - would be booed when they were shown to audiences. As Joel Dommett introduced them to the crowd on Tuesday night, fans could be heard booing as they were shown on the screen. Piers Morgan was also booed as Joel pointed him out in the audience, with him laughing and shaking his head at the fan's reaction.
