The Tories' London mayoral candidate has been accused of endorsing tweets relating to Enoch Powell, Islamophobic tropes about Sadiq Khan and the myth that the 2020 US election was stolen from Donald Trump.

Hope Not Hate said has put together a damning list exposing Susan Hall’s interactions with hateful content on Twitter. The anti-racism campaign group said it has written to Conservative Party chairman Greg Hands calling for her to be investigated and suspended.

Hope Not Hate said Ms Hall's social media conduct includes liking a tweet from 2020 saying: "It's never too late to get London Back!" The picture is an image of Enoch Powell with the quote "It's never too late to save your country", a slogan that was once on the BNP website, it said.

Ms Hall is also accused of liking a tweet in 2020 from a user suggesting they'd like Mr Powell to be an addition to a pack of Prime Minister playing cards. Mr Powell was a former Conservative minister who is notorious for giving a racist speech known as "rivers of blood".

Campaigners said Ms Hall also quote-tweeted an article from the right-wing misinformation site The Gateway Pundit in 2020 alleging a conspiracy to steal the 2020 US presidential election from Trump. The list also includes that she replied to a 2019 tweet from Katie Hopkins calling current Labour mayor Mr Khan "our nipple height mayor of Londonistan", a term used to convey the idea that Muslims are taking over London, with the endorsement "Thank you Katie!".

Ms Hall has previously been criticised for saying the “dangerous” Notting Hill carnival should be moved and for negative comments about the Black Lives Matter protests.

Georgie Laming, director of campaigns at Hope Not Hate, said: "The Conservative Party is putting up a candidate who has shown her endorsement of Enoch Powell. Susan Hall is not fit to represent London and all its diversity. Susan Hall must be suspended immediately and ultimately, she must be removed as a candidate."

A spokesman for Susan Hall's campaign said: "Susan engages with many people on Twitter without endorsing their views. Londoners want a Mayor who listens to people and deals with the bread-and-butter issues that matter to them - making our streets safer and putting more money back in people's pockets. As Mayor, Susan will deliver that."
