In an ideal world, parenting involves a unanimous approach from both carers - to giver your children clear communication and support. But sometimes morals and view point clash, leaving parents in a serious pickle. One woman was left livid when she found out that her had been husband secretly giving their vegan son meat behind her back, but her partner had an important reason for his decision.

After making the joint decision to raise their 12-year-old son as a vegan - the health-conscious mum was horrified when she found out what her husband had been doing. Despite her fury, he defended his actions, arguing that their son felt "left out" and "lonely" at school due to his diet.

After finding secret McDonald's and sweet wrappers in his son's bag, the dad quickly realised his son had been spending his "chore" money on the non-vegan treats. The dad then explained how he "didn't want him spending his pocket money on snacks" so he would buy him whatever food he wanted when they were alone together.

His wife was horrified and called him "an animal abuse enabler", so he took to Reddit to vent, and asked if he was in the wrong for going behind his wife's back. He explained that his wife turned vegan six years ago after watching a documentary and decided to turn her son vegan, and he even agreed to go vegetarian.

He wrote: "After a long conversation I agreed to go vegetarian and be vegan in the house and around her, which she was happy with. She also decided our son should be vegan, which after seeing a dietician I also agreed with. Things were fine with this arrangement until a few months ago when I began finding wrappers from non-vegan candy and even burgers from McDonald's in my son's school bag which he had been buying with chore money.

"I had a conversation with my son and he confessed he felt lonely and excluded eating vegan around his friends and that they always had much better candy than he did and it wasn't fair. I decided I didn't want him spending his pocket money on snacks and throwing out the vegan snacks we actually brought him instead of buying games etc, it made no sense, but I also know the way my wife feels about non-vegan products. So, I began buying my son what he wanted on our way to football practice instead."

However, when his wife found out, she accused him of "corrupting" their son and won't speak to him, adding that he is an 'animal abuse enabler'. So he asked if he was an a**hole for going behind his wife's back and other people were quick to chime in with their thoughts.

One user commented: "She is trying to bully everyone with her choice. Does she forget most of her life eating animals. Now she wants everyone to do what she wants," while another disagreed and said: "He should be standing up to his wife. After finding out what their kid was doing and what he wanted, he shouldn't have continued the lie. He should have talked to his wife."
