John Lewis is opening its Christmas shops today - and its Quality Street pick and mix stations are returning to select stores.

Shoppers will be able to fill a tin with a choice of 12 different chocolates, including the returning Coffee Creme - which is back after 20 years - and the famous Green Triangle. Customers can fill a new 1.2kg tub for £15 or refill an old one for £12.50.

There is also the option to personalise a tin with your name, or someone else’s if you’re buying a gift, for £17. Customers can also buy a "fill your own" advent calendars for £14 or "fill your own" cracker for £7.

The Quality Street pick and mix stations will be available in 18 stores - but only the Oxford Street branch in London will be open from today. The remaining stores will go live over the next two weeks. You can see the full list of locations below.

The Christmas stores will also feature a pick and mix bauble station for the first time, with 32 different baubles to choose from. Customers can mix and match six baubles for £16, including personalised alphabet options. Baubles reflect changing traditions, and this year there are decorations inspired by sister supermarket Waitrose trends, including chilies, cocktails, oat milk and an air fryer.

Santa’s Grotto and Santa Paws will be available in ten John Lewis stores from November 22, allowing both kids and pets the chance to meet Father Christmas himself. Separately, John Lewis has announced it has extended its returns period for the festive season. You have until January 23, 2024 to return any gifts you buy between September 27 and December 24, 2023.

Lisa Cherry, Christmas buyer at John Lewis said: “Our Christmas shops will transport customers to a magical place of festive wonder, bursting full of decorating inspiration and gifting ideas. The buying and design teams have collaborated to develop six unique and distinct Christmas themes, and we’re introducing Christmas tree workshops in store to help guide and inspire.

“We’ve noticed that customers are definitely starting to shop earlier this year, planning for their traditions with Christmas sales already up 25%. This year we’re offering more in store experiences, personalisation and products than ever before from much-loved brands such as Quality Street and Disney. We’re also excited to launch our Christmas Markets in seven stores showcasing artisan, handmade products from local businesses.”
