Sarah Ferguson has said that she believes that her friend Lisa Marie Presley died from a broken heart following the death of her son Benjamin Keough nearly three years ago.

Ben tragically killed himself when he was just 27 years old in July 2020, leaving mum Lisa Marie and dad Danny Keough "heartbroken".

Lisa Marie was said to have been "inconsolable and beyond devastated" following his death but tried to stay strong for her young twins and daughter Riley.

Speaking to Page Six, the Duchess of York said that Lisa Marie was "with Ben now".

Sarah will be attending the memorial at Graceland, which will start later today, after flying into Memphis International Airport on Saturday.

Explaining that she would be there to support Lisa Marie's three daughters - 14-year-old twins Finley and Harper and 33-year-old Riley - she said that she was "so proud" of them.

"She used to write to me saying, ‘Yeah, I’m really gushing at how wonderful my children are right now.," the Duchess of York said.

Sarah and Lisa Marie first became friends when Elvis' daughter moved to Sussex, England, with her ex-husband Michael Lockwood.

Following the news of Lisa Marie's death, Sarah paid tribute to her friend on Instagram, writing: "I say hello to you everyday and I love you my sissy and I will continue to say hello to you everyday.

"You were my sissy, an amazing mother to Ben, Riley, Harper and Finley and a superbly loving daughter to Priscilla. You have been my devoted friend for many years and I am here for your family to support and love them. I am deeply saddened my sissy, you are in my heart."

Lisa Marie is set to first have a private memorial with close family and friends. Later, she will also have a public memorial, which can be watched via livestream.

She will be laid to rest beside her dad Elvis and son Benjamin at Graceland. Photos of her grey marble sarcophagus has been pictured sitting beside her burial spot.

Hundreds of seats have been lined up around the burial site.

Last week, Lisa's daughter Riley broke her silence and shared a sweet tribute to her mum on Instagram.

She posted a photo of her and her mum from her childhood, where she gazes lovingly up at her mum, while Lisa smiles back.

Riley kept it simple with a red heart emoji in the caption.

Lisa was just nine when her dad died, and she grew up fearing her own mortality.

She would often refer to the garden at the Graceland estate as "the graveyard".

"How many people have a family grave in the backyard? How many people are reminded of their fate, of their mortality, every f**king day?

"All the graves are lined up and there's a spot there, waiting for me, right next to my grandmother," she told Playboy in 2003.
