Braverman slams 'out of touch' Elton John over claims about 'gay' migrants

SUELLA Braverman has hit back at “out of touch” Elton John after he blasted her claims that some asylum seekers pretend to be gay to be allowed to stay in Britain and avoid persecution.

The Home Secretary said the “virtue-signalling elite” do not understand the strains caused by illegal immigration.

She accused A-listers of lecturing “from their villas and private jets.”

She said: “These people don’t have to wait to see a GP, they can just go private. They don’t have to worry about trying to afford a car or a house.”

Ms Braverman accused “privileged people” of trying to tell Brits how they should think.

Suella told the Mail on Sunday: “When you go to towns across the country where there are hotels with illegal migrants or asylum seekers, that puts real pressures on communities.

“My job is to think of them first ahead of a virtue-signalling, elitist view from Hollywood Central.

She went on: “What I have a problem with is these privileged people telling the British people how they should think.

“I find that rank hypocrisy and condescending, lecturing tone incredibly inappropriate.

“These pampered elites are trying to look compassionate and sound virtuous”.

It follows the singer blasting Ms Braverman, 43, after she claimed asylum seekers were pretending to be gay to gain ”special treatment” and remain in the UK.

She last week called on world leaders to rip up the 1951 United Nations Refugee Convention – arguing migrants were “shopping around” for their country of choice.

Sir Elton said her gay claims risked “legitimising hate and violence” against LGBTQ+ people.
