DRIVERS are only just realising cars have a button that could save their lives.

The switch, which can be located in various places in different vehicles, helps detect when other motors are nearby but unseen.

A blind spot monitor button turns on a function that lets drivers know when other cars are in a tricky-to-spot area near their vehicle.

Blind spots cause fatal and other horror crashes across the UK every year.

One expert recently broke down where to find the button that turns the monitor on.

Bianca, who works at Lexus, said it can be hidden in different places around the driver's seat.

Speaking in a YouTube video, she explained where to find the button near the steering wheel.

Biance explained: "You will see a button indicating BSM.

"If you push it and the green light is on it is now active."

She said sometimes it can be part of the settings accessed on the steering wheel itself.

The expert continued: "When you step into your vehicle you will most likely be on your anchor screen.

"When you need to locate the BSM, blind spot monitor, you will then go to the right side of your steering wheel to locate the arrows.

"You will then push the right arrow and go all the way until you see the settings menu.

"You will then scroll down with the bottom arrow until you see BSM.

"You're going to click it with the middle and as you can see it's off.

"Press it one more time and the green BSM will the be located in your left-hand corner, which means it's now active."

It's not unusual for drivers to come across hidden buttons in their cars.

In recent days motorists came across a mode that helps save hundreds on fuel - but has major downsides.

Others recently found a button that turns motors into race cars, but has serious cons.

It comes after another button that could save drivers time was pointed out - while they were warned it comes with serious risks.
