Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has taken to Instagram to upload a cryptic message after being called up by the Cameroon national team.

Onana has been named in the squad for his country's final Africa Cup of Nations qualifier just nine months after he was suspended from the international fold mid-way through the Qatar World Cup. It is believed that the suspension was imposed for "disciplinary reasons" after an alleged falling-out with Cameroon coach Rigobert Song.

The national team boss was filmed discussing news of Onana's exile from the Cameroon set-up during the World Cup, where he revealed the now-United shot-stopper was moved to tears following a passionate exchange with his manager.

"The day of the game with Serbia I told Onana that I needed to talk to him and he started crying," Song said in the video. "I told him, 'I don't have time to discuss these issues. I called you yesterday and you didn't talk to me. I had chats with Aboubakar, Choupo-Moting and Anguissa, who are the most representative players in the team; why shouldn't I talk to you?' Onana puts on a show in training but takes too many risks during games."

Onana announced his retirement from international football as a result of the fall-out, but having been named in this latest squad, Song seems to have changed his tune slightly in regards to what actually happened with the goalkeeper.

"It all depended on him," the Cameroon boss explained. "He knew what he had to do. If he's on the list, it's because he did the right thing. He's one of the best goalkeepers. The door was always open. There was never a problem with Andre. Today, we are satisfied that he is reunited with the group."

It remains unclear whether Onana is convinced by that explanation and his recent social media acivity would suggest he isn't, with the 27-year-old uploading a particularly cryptic post that many fans have interpret as his response to Song's comments.

The United ace posted a snap of a flower alongside the caption: "le mensonge donnes des fleurs mais pas de fruits", which translates to English as "lying gives flowers but no fruits."

Onana's potential return to the Cameroon fold could spell bad news for United as they may now be without their first-choice goalkeeper in the middle of the season during the Africa Cup of Nations in January of next year.
