Shane MacGowan’s wife has given fans an update on the Pogues legend's health as he continues to receive treatment in hospital.
His wife Victoria shared a smiling picture of the star from his hospital bed. The Irish musician, 65, was recently admitted to the intensive care unit after suffering from a mystery illness. But Shane now appears to be in better shape as Primal Scream legend Bobby Gillespie and country crooner Daniel O'Donnell paid him a visit to him while he recovers from his ill health.
Shane's wife took to social media to thank medical staff who helped her husband while he was in ICU. She said: "You are so kind and thoughtful and it’s so helpful. Prayers for everyone who is in hospital!! And immensely grateful to all the staff!”
Last week, Victoria revealed Imelda May came to see her sick husband as she shared a sweet picture of Shane in his hospital bed alongside the Liberties star. Captioning the snap, Victoria wrote: “Thank you so much to the beautiful @ImeldaOfficial for cheering up Shane MacGowan and giving us a sneak preview of your show about Kathleen Behan at the 3olympiatheatre..”
In the past, Shane has been treated for viral encephalitis, a serious condition in which the brain becomes inflamed or swollen and can cause fevers, headaches, and seizures. The music star also contracted shingles while in hospital.

I think that our minds can be VERY resistant to change and to having our lives shaken up and rearranged and we need to be very gentle and patient with ourselves…
Shane rose to fame as the lead singer and songwriter of the Celtic punk band the Pogues. He was also a member of the Nipple Erectors and Shane MacGowan and the Popes, as well as producing his own solo material and collaborating with artists such as Kirsty MacColl, the late Sinéad O'Connor, and Ronnie Drew.
