The DIY SOS: The Big Build event took place in Stoke, where volunteers worked to build a facility for the neighbourhood that would address concerns including food poverty and loneliness.

Sue, a well-known member of the neighbourhood, founded the charity Sylvester to bring the community back together.

Their goal was to turn a vacant plot of land into a community centre and garden with space for vegetable gardening and a gathering area for people of all ages to share wisdom and experiences.

She had a vision of what she wanted it to look like and Nick Knowles and his team helped her achieve it.

The centre was ready to be viewed, with a high-quality kitchen built to aid with food poverty, an excellent tool shed put up to offer men somewhere to go and break out of their loneliness, and a garden where the community could grow crops of their own.

After a lot of work, it was time to show Sue the finished results - and it did not disappoint.

Sue was speechless when she opened her eyes to discover the newly renovated building.

Nick said: "You've been dreaming of this for a long time. Open your eyes."

As she held back the tears she said: "Oh, wow."

Nick said: "Well I've never seen you speechless, and I don't think any of your friends have either."

"Absolutely amazing," Sue said after plucking up the courage to speak.

Fans were also left in tears at the emotional episode.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter one fan wrote: "Best ever episode. Crying my heart out . What an amazing space. Safe and welcoming to all ! What a lovely lady Sue is."

A second added: "Damn you DIYSOS," with a crying face emoji.

A third penned: "If you are not getting emotional at #DIYSos are you even human?"

A fourth wrote: "Love you program! Today’s resonated much more with me though - the community coming together to create something for the community. It’s true - we spent so long apart during the pandemic. People need the communities supporting one another. THANK YOU!"
