The terrifying actual account of a 16-year-old girl who was abducted by a family friend after her mother, brother, and beloved dog were brutally murdered has been made public by a well-known crime documentary.
James DiMaggio, who was 40 at the time, kidnapped Hannah Anderson after cheerleading practice. Earlier in the day, he had 'tortured' and killed her mother, 44, and brother, 8, before lighting his California home on fire with their bodies still inside.
A six-day manhunt that culminated in a gunfight with the FBI in the midst of the Idaho wilderness and DiMaggio's death was spurred by the kidnapping.

Although Hannah was uninjured, the publicity surrounding the incident persisted with inquiries about her relationship to the attacker and requests for paternity testing. After an episode of FBI True investigated the scandalous story, FEMAIL has now exposed the alarming truths.
Gangsters ‘call for ceasefire’ after deadly Christmas Eve pub shootingThe terrifying tale started in August 2013 with a report of a fire at James DiMaggio's residence. After putting out the fires, the responding fire squad was horrified to find a body tied up in the garage.
It belonged to Christina, Hannah's 44-year-old mother, who had displayed "obvious signs of a struggle" while being "tortured."
According to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office, she was discovered with multiple layers of duct tape wrapped around her neck and lips, as well as plastic cable ties wrapped around her ankles.
More least a dozen strikes to the back of Christina's head, her forehead, and her nose had already occurred. She also had cuts on her neck, which were probably caused by the tape after she passed away.
The grisly incident did not end there, however, as investigators also discovered Hannah's brother Ethan, age 8, incinerated remains within the home. Due to severe burns and tissue loss, investigators claimed they were unable to ascertain how the young kid had passed away.
They claimed that among the possible causes were burns from the house fire, asphyxiation, and gunshot wounds. The family pet dog of the Andersons had also been shot and died.
Authorities swiftly came to the conclusion that someone had used incendiary devices on timers to set the house on fire. Police quickly came to the conclusion that DiMaggio was the main suspect given the complex set-up.
The Anderson children knew DiMaggio well and referred to him as Uncle Jim, but he had already expressed a more unsettling interest in Hannah.
According to a report at the time by San Diego County Sheriff's Detective Troy DuGal, Christina reportedly begged DiMaggio to take Hannah to cheerleading practice on August 3 since she was at Ethan's football practice and couldn't do it alone.
