A creep dressed as Pennywise the clown from Stephen King's It has been stalking the streets of a quiet rural town - and has released a new video daring police to catch him.
The unknown culprit has been leaving red balloons around the Scottish village of Skelmorlie, having donned the costume of the child killer from the 1987 classic, set in Derry, Maine, in the US.
A Facebook account for the Skelmorlie clown has been set up with the name Cole Deimos, claiming he 'studied at Clown School'. In Greek mythology, Deimos is the personification of fear, with the name translating loosely as 'dread'. It appears they first started 'haunting' the village in 2021. His Facebook account shows images of him creeping on all fours over a bridge, and staring at the screen while holding a red balloon.
A new video uploaded on Thursday morning (October 12) entitled 'message to the media' has what appears to be a man's voice which has been heavily distorted. It mocks both the police for their failure to identify him, as well as the media covering the story. "Well, well, well, I've made the news again," it starts. "Should I smile for the cameras with my 'hideous' grin?" reports Wales Online.
It is thought that the police are aware of his antics - something he addresses in the video: "The police have been informed, do you think that I care? They'd have to catch me first anyway - and yes, that's a dare. They called me 'killer clown'. Why don't you leave the jokes to me. The only thing that's dying is your credibility."
Man seriously hurt after being 'stabbed' outside nightclub in New Year's Day attackAddressing journalists who have covered the story, the clown added: "This clown doesn't want fame, glory or gold. He just wants to play in this so-called 'sleepy town'. So, come and join in and learn to fear the Skelmorlie clown." Despite the sinister nature of the video, many on Facebook seem to enjoy the clown's posts. One user said they were 'brilliant!' while another said: "Absolutely amazing, love this."
One user said: "Love it! Never stop! We're at Meigle and have always hoped to see u out. We were out the other night in skelmorlie hoping to bump into u."
