PAEDOPHILE monster Andrew Innes has been found GUILTY of murdering a mum and her daughter at their home in Dundee.

Judge Lord Beckett earlier directed jurors to convict Innes on two charges of murdering Bennylyn Burke, 25, and her two-year-old daughter Jellica.

The monster has been sentenced to life behind bars and must serve a minimum of 36 years before being considered for parole.

He decided there was no evidence led during proceedings to show that Innes was suffering from mental impairment at the time he killed the pair.

The direction emerged on the fifth day of proceedings against Innes, of Dundee, who denied murdering the two women at his home in Dundee.

He also denied charges of raping a seven-year-old girl and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

In a video taken days as the monster left court before the verdict, Innes could be seen smirking as hecklers howled abuse as he was led away by officers.

Lord Beckett told Innes, 52, that he’d have to serve a minimum for 36 years for battering Bennylyn to death with a hammer and smothering two-year-old Jellica for crying.

A jury at the High Court in Edinburgh returned guilty verdicts to charges which stated how Innes took the pair’s lives in February 2021 at his home in Troon Avenue, Dundee.

They also found him guilty of sexually assaulting Jellica and of raping a seven-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

The jury also returned a verdict of guilty that Innes attempted to defeat the ends of justice by doing a number of things to “avoid detection, arrest and prosecution” for murdering Bennylyn and Jellica.

He wrapped a rubble bag, blanket and tarpaulin around the head and body of  Bennylyn before concealing her body in concrete beneath the kitchen floor at 21 Troon Avenue, Dundee.

He also put the naked body of Jellica in rubble bags and concealed her body in concrete beneath the kitchen floor of his home.

Bennylyn and Jellica's family paid tribute to the pair saying: "Bennylyn was the hope and light of our family.

"That light has been cruelly snuffed out.

“Bennylyn had bright ideas and big dreams.

"She bravely left home to seek a better future in a country far away.

"Instead, she found the worst cruelty we could ever imagine at the hands of someone she trusted.

“We shall be forever haunted by what happened to her in this far off place such a long way from us, her family.

“In the Philippines, poor families like ours very often have daughters and sisters who seek to fulfil their dreams for a better future abroad.

"Never do we imagine it will end in such terror and horror.

“We cannot drive from our minds what happened to her and what happened to Jellica, or the fear they must have felt after experiencing violence from Andrew Innes.

“A big part of our family has been torn from us. We shall never see Bennylyn and Jellica again.

"We shall never know our beloved Jellica or ever see her grow up.

“We pray for the child who suffered the cruelty of Andrew Innes.

"We are happy that she is being cared for and recovering from her trauma.

"Women and girls must be protected from predators like Andrew Innes.

“There is nothing that can restore Bennylyn and Jellica to us.

"But the jury’s guilty verdict for murder provides some comfort to our family and friends and brings justice for Bennylyn and Jellica."
