The pair shared a smooch ahead of the Rugby World Final at the Stade de France, on Saturday, after travelling to the French capital on Eurostar.

Now relationship expert Jo Hemmings says the public show of affection is sending clear messages to her soon-to-be ex-husband.

"It's the epitome of the 'statement kiss'," she says.

"She chose Paris, a rich and titled bloke and it was perfectly stage managed for maximum exposure."

The British actress split from singer Jonas, 34, at the beginning of September, after four years, sparking a custody battle over daughter Willa, three, and 15-month-old Delphine.

She initially accused her ex of filing for divorce without telling her and of unlawfully keeping her daughters in the US, but the couple have now resolve to handle their divorce to be resolved “amicably” and have agreed a custody sharing deal.

Now Sophie seems to have moved on, cosying up to toff Peregrine - known as Perry - who is heir to a £224million fortune.

The Brit star - who plays noblewoman Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones - seems to have bagged a real life blue blood.

The son of the 4th Viscount of Cowdray, the 29-year-old has recently split from Princess Maria-Olympia of Greece, who is also the King’s goddaughter.

Perry lives in a £5million Chelsea townhouse while his ancestral home is now Cowdray Park Polo Club, in Midhurst, West Sussex, which boasts 10 pitches and is often used by the Royal family - including Prince William.

Ultimate upgrade

Singer Joe's wealth is estimated at £41million, while Peregrine's family, who own the FTSE 100 form Pearson PLC, ranks among the richest in the UK, with a fortune of £224million - making him five times richer.

He is also five years younger than Sophie's ex - and set to inherit the title of Viscount from his father, Michael.

Jo says: "When you’re going through the fall out of a messy break up, the anger and hurt often turn our thoughts to revenge.

"To be seen out with a super-wealthy, titled, younger guy is a huge ‘look at how well I’ve done’ moment, designed to make Joe both annoyed and jealous – the two main aims of emotional revenge."

Seizing the narrative

Coming less than eight weeks since she was reportedly blindsided by her husband's decision to file for divorce, the timing is key.

While her Jonas brothers ex has been keeping a low profile, Sophie is taking control of her situation.

Jo says: "The speed with which this has developed is no coincidence.

"Sophie wanted to make sure she got her new romance out there, before Joe was seen out with someone else, so it looks more authentic than just doing it to get back at him. This will make her feel empowered."

The pair were seen "laughing a lot" after getting off the train in the Gard Du Nord, and the affection between them was obvious in the clinch.

Jo says: "It’s an intimate pose, as they warmly embrace each other, with a very visible lip locking kiss, which no one could mistake for a hug of platonic friendship.

"He’s removed his hat, to get in as close as possible, while she has slipped her arms under his coat pulling him in even closer."

Public display

Sophie was in the French capital in an official capacity, unveiling the Rugby World Cup for the final clash between New Zealand and South Africa.

So the public display of affection was a message that the newly single pair have nothing to hide.

Jo says: "They could have gone down a side street, or hidden in a doorway.

"But the deliberate choice of a very public pavement on a busy street, is part of their narrative to be seen, announcing to the world that they have both moved on from their previous partners."

City of love

The romantic city also proved the perfect place to showcase their fledgling relationship.

Joe says: "And just in case Joe hasn’t got the full message, doing this in the middle of Paris, the most romantic city in the world, shows that this romance is significant.

"She’s fallen for one of the richest and most eligible bachelors in the world, he is treating her like a princess and she wants everyone to know that she’s moved on in style."
