The daughter of King Charles III's cousin, Lady Tatiana Mountbatten has paid tribute to Matthew Perry who tragically died at the age of 54.

Famed for his role as Chandler Bing in the US comedy sitcom Friends, Matthew became a household name the world over from 1994. And this explains why his unexpected and tragic death has had such an impact across the world. Matthew was found unresponsive in his hot tub at his home in LA on October 28. Since his passing, tributes have been pouring in from his former cast mates, Hollywood actors and singers. And now Lady Tatiana Mountbatten is the latest person to share her grief.

Taking to Instagram, Lady Tatiana who is a psychotherapist and equestrian, said that she still watches Friends when she wants to improve her mood. She wrote: "I've always turned to Friends when I haven't been feeling quite right. Whether I'm sad, low, sick or exhausted, recovering, hungover or just needing a little comforting. Chandler Bing has always made me smile and I'm so sad today to hear of Matt Perry's passing."

But it wasn't just the way he portrayed Chandler on-screen that made him a firm favourite in every household. Lady Tatiana also revealed that his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing, was also a source of inspiration to her.

She added: "I read his book while I was working at a rehab. It taught me so much and I highly recommend you read it, particularly if you're interested in mental health or addiction. Watching Friends after reading it was a totally different experience, particularly season 3 as the book explains what turmoil Perry was in during filming / what drugs he was using. A sad day, and maybe one spent watching my favourite and very comforting Friends." Matthew's former co-stars are said to have been left utterly devastated by his death.

In a statement released to People magazine earlier this week, the group said: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we're going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss." The cast, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc and Lisa Kudrow added: "In time we will say more, as and when we are able. For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty's family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

Matthew struggled with substance abuse for many years and had made no secret of his battle. Initial toxicology tests did not show any fentanyl or meth in Matthew's system at the time of death. The tests aren't as in depth as the full toxicology reports that are still pending but for the time being, meth or fentanyl overdose as the cause of death, reports TMZ.

The actor even turned his property in Malibu into a sober living facility named Perry House and admitted he'd rather be remembered for his rehabilitation work than his performance on Friends. He previously said: "But when I die, as far as my so-called accomplishments go, it would be nice if Friends were listed far behind the things I did to try to help other people. I know it won't happen, but it would be nice. If an alcoholic or drug addict comes up to me and says, 'Will you help me?’ I will always say 'Yes, I know how to do that.I will do that for you, even if I can't always do it for myself.' So I do that, whenever I can. In groups, or one on one."
