Escape to the Chateau’s Dick and Angel Strawbridge shared an emotional post as they celebrated a big milestone after cutting ties with Channel 4.

The couple, who appeared on the hit TV series from 2016 to 2022, were dropped by the broadcaster earlier this year after reports of a “deteriorating relationship” between Dick and Angel and the production company Two Rivers. An audio recording was later leaked, in which Angel could be heard calling a producer a “f***ed up little c***”, prompting outrage from fans of the show.

It was later reported that the couple had closed their 19th-century chateau in Martigné-sur-Mayenne, France, and embarked on a world tour to promote their book The Chateau Forever Home. Now, they’re celebrating a huge career milestone, and they took to social media to share the exciting news with their 476,000 followers.

“What a fantastic end to the weekend! Our new book Forever Home is in the Top 10 of the Sunday Times Bestseller List. This is a huge deal to us, and it's because of you - everyone who has supported us and bought the book. We cannot thank you enough,” the couple wrote alongside a snap of the hardback book on their joint Instagram account.

They were inundated with congratulatory comments, with many fans delighted that Dick and Angel have gone on to find further success after being dropped by Channel 4. “Of course it's going to be there! Your other books have been amazing, I can't wait to read it!” one gushed. “Congratulations... you bring fun and love to this world,” another commented.

“A few chapters in already, it shows the love we have for your family and amazing journey, can't wait to see you later this month!” one loyal fan added. “So well deserved! A beautiful chronicle! Can't wait for the next one!” another wrote. “And that surprises you, Strawbridges? It doesn't us!” a fan quipped.

Dick and Angel found fame on the hit Channel 4 show which followed them as they carried out extensive renovations on their 19th-century French mansion, alongside children Arthur and Dorothy. As well as their new book, the couple have also launched their own podcast, called CHAT…EAU.

“We are doing a podcast here from the chateau, and it's about our life and how ridiculous and how silly it is to buy a chateau,” Dick explained. “Once we've established that it's a pretty silly idea to buy a chateau, we'll tell you about our life in France and what's going on in our world.”
