In her video, Leslie (@acharmingabode) showed her followers how to make an "all-natural mouse repellant."

The Instagram user recommended using three kitchen ingredients to deter the rodents from your house.

For her first step, Leslie purchased a set of small drawstring bags, available for $8 from Amazon.

Inside each bag, she placed a cinnamon stick along with a tablespoon of crushed red pepper and a tablespoon of cloves.

"Seal it up in your party bag and place it in your pantry," she told her audience.

Leslie explained: "It’s also great to place into places where you feel like the mice are coming in."

In the caption of the clip, she recommended placing the bags in your basement and under your sink cabinets.

According to the experts at Pest Pointers, a mouse's sensitive sense of smell works against it with certain scents.

"Their sensitive noses can’t handle the spice’s potency, mostly from the active spice ingredient Cinnamaldehyde, making it an excellent choice for deterring them," they explained.

The professionals at Fantastic Pest Control shared the reasoning behind the rodent's dislike of crushed red peppers.

They wrote: "Capsaicin is an active ingredient, contained in chili peppers, causing irritation when injected or inhaled.

"This is what makes chili oil or powder a very effective mouse deterrent."

And when it comes to a mouse's dislike of cloves, the experts at Miche Pest Control had the answer.

They explained: "Cloves are known to repel mice due to their strong scent and pungent taste.

"The strong scent of cloves can be overwhelming for mice, and it can also irritate their noses and taste buds."

Instagram users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the advice.

"Thank you. With 11 grandchildren I sometimes can't keep up with all the little places they get their little hands into. I don't want snap-traps or poison in my house," wrote one viewer.

Another follower said: "Thanks for the tip. I have a mouse that is an unwanted visitor in our garage. No bueno. Will try it."

"Been using this in our camper for about three years. Must be working because we haven’t had any mouse droppings!" commented a third person.
