I thought it was a scam but it turns out it was my husband. He’s got a gambling addiction.
He’s 58 and he went to Cheltenham races earlier this year. He had a great time and won £800. He was thrilled and he put it towards our summer holiday.

He said he has the odd bet with mates at work where one of them goes into the betting shop at lunchtime.
He said he only dabbles but I’ve realised he’s taken over three hundred pounds in two months.
While his initial win was great, he’s on a slippery slope if he’s betting regularly and his colleagues may be encouraging him.

If he had £300 in cash in his wallet, he’d no doubt baulk at the thought of putting it all on one horse but that is the equivalent to what he has done.
