Friends fans may see the cast of the hit 90's sitcom reunite again as they are in "early talks" of paying a proper public tribute to Matthew Perry at the upcoming Emmy Awards.

Matthew, who played the quirky, beloved character of Chandler Bing on Friends may be given a sentimental shoutout from his former cast members onstage as Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt Le Blanc, and David Schwimmer are keen on honoring their late co-star and close friend. Matthew tragically passed away at the end of October at the age of 54 after reportedly drowning in his hot tub.

A source close to the cast said: "When it comes to Matthew's death, emotions are still running high and it is still a very touchy situation, which is totally understandable."

They continued to Daily Mail: "But Jen, Lisa, and the rest of the cast want to honour him publicly at some point and give him the tribute he so rightfully deserves - and there have been rumblings to do it at next year's Emmys."

The prestigious award show is set to be held in January 15th at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. The annual award show that is celebrating it's 75th anniversary this year was pushed back three months after it's original date due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

While Matthew was already expected to be featured in the "In Memorium" segment - a moving video honouring famous television stars who passed away since the last year's ceremonies - his former Friends cast are interested in having their own special moment onstage as well. The five former cast members are reportedly intent on sharing their own "personal memories" on and off-screen with Matthew and give him a tribute he "rightfully deserves." This would most likely be the next time the original cast will all reunite together after all recently seen attending Matthew's funeral on November 4th.

The insider told the news outlet: "They all would love to get together on stage to speak about him and also have their own unique moment sharing memories about him and telling the world about the man he was in real life," they added: "If they can all agree on a worthy tribute and get the blessing of his family, they will absolutely get together to make that night a special moment for Matthew and all who loved him."

During Matthew's successful acting career he was nominated for five Emmy's including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in Friends. He also received nominations for his incredible performances in The West Wing in 2003 and The Ron Clark Story in 2006.
