GREAT British Bake Off fans were left puzzled after Alison Hammond disappeared from the semi-finals.

Noel Fielding was left to present the show on his own for patisserie week.

The remaining contestants were faced with the task of whipping up a French signature sweet treat and an Italian celebration cake in the technical challenge.

While Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith returned to the tent to judge the bakes, many fans were wondering where Alison was.

"It is very quiet in the tent, we need Alison", one wrote.

"Noel is just drooling over every bake like a little puppy with no Alison to drag him away," said a second.

"I miss Alison," chimed a third.

Opening the programme, Noel told viewers: "Welcome back to the tent!

"Unfortunately, today Alison is a little bit poorly, so she won't be joining us, but she'll back soon."

The show's official X account also posted: "Sadly Alison was unwell and not able to take part in the filming of the Semi Final - but we can assure you she shall return for the Bake Off Final!"

Tasha was the latest casualty after she was booted off Tuesday night's show - which was also her birthday.

She was the last woman standing in the competition, meaning there will be an all-male final.

Josh, Dan and Matty are set to battle it out on November 28.

Upon her departure, Tash said: "It's changed me. I can do so much more than I realised that I was capable of.

"It's such a special place. I'm very lucky to be part of it."

A post on GBBO's official X page read: "Oh Tasha, we’re the lucky ones - you’ve been an absolute star!

"We’re so honoured to have enjoyed both your baking and your company in our Tent over the last few weeks.

"We’re very excited about what the future holds for you. Keep believing in yourself!"

This comes after it was revealed that Alison has landed a new presenting role on Sky Max's latest comedy game show.

She will become a team captain on Rob Beckett's Smart TV, which is expected to launch next year.

She and Rob will also be joined by Josh Widdicombe, who will be the captain for the opposing team.

She gushed that being on the show will be like "going for a night out with your mates", and is looking forward to working alongside show host Rob Beckett.

Audiences will also be able to play along from home, making it the perfect entertainment for TV aficionados.

An excited Alison shared: "I'm absolutely thrilled to be a team captain on Smart TV. I understand why they have chosen me - firstly I love TV and secondly, I'm smart. LOL!

"I can't wait to have fun looking at the TV shows I know and love! It's like going out for a night with your mates, doing a quiz and escaping life!"

Rob Beckett added: "I am very excited to be hosting Rob Beckett’s Smart TV.  The show was named before I was asked to be the host so as a person named Rob Beckett it seems only fitting that I, Rob Beckett, should be at the helm.

"It’s an honour to work alongside the Queen of TV Alison Hammond and it’s a shame that I can’t seem to shake off Josh Widdicombe. But in the words of Bewitched and some French people ‘C’est La Vie’.

"All the shows have been really funny to film so I can’t wait for everyone to watch them. As well as all the other Rob Beckett’s in the world sat there thinking I could have hosted this."
