ARSENAL have been slapped with a worrying Jurrien Timber injury update from a Dutch media outlet.

The defender suffered a brutal knee injury at the start of the season and is likely to be sidelined for the rest of the term.

In his Premier League debut against Nottingham Forest Timber, 22, pulled up with an off-the-ball injury.

The £38million summer signing arrived from Ajax during the summer to strengthen Mikel Arteta's backline.

But a worrying update from the Dutch outlet AD has confirmed when the Netherland international will be able to return to the pitch.

And the report claims it is unlikely Timber will make his country's Euro 2024 squad ahead of the tournament next summer.

There was hope the Gunners' new boy could return for at least the last part of the season.

But following surgery on his ACL his playing time this term looks uncertain.

Timber is a promising signing for Arteta despite having played just 50 league minutes since his arrival.

He impressed the Spaniard after assisting Ajax with two Eredivisie titles and winning the league's Player of the Year for the 2021-22 term.

The signing of the Dutchman was a clear move that Arsenal wanted to improve on their backline.

But the Gunners have faced a huge blow as Arteta has been forced to return to last season's defensive options Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko.

Arsenal have not hit rock bottom however and are still performing strong as they sit 3rd in the table with eight out of 12 league wins.

And they will continue to fight for the Premier League title again this term as they next take on Brentford on Saturday evening.
