During their event promotion for the upcoming season of What If…? Marvel studios revealed the exciting news that a Black Panther spin-off series was in the works.

The company's X(Twitter) page also posted about Marvel’s new Eyes of Wakanda with a picture of the Black Panther and a caption with the tagline: “A new animated series EYES OF WAKANDA is in the works at Marvel.

“Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.”

Hearing of the announcement, some fans celebrated under the social media post.

However most seemed to be on the fence about the forthcoming series, with questions about whether T’challa, played by the late Chadwick Boseman, would feature in the upcoming animation.

One fan wished: “Hoping for a very unique animation style to make this series really stand out.”

Another added: “I'm cautiously optimistic on this one.”

A third quizzed: “I wonder if it’s gonna be MCU canon or alternate universe.”

A fourth wrote: “Tchalla better not die in this one, we’ve been through enough heartbreak.”

A fifth said: “Kinda hard to support it when I believe this project will continue to de-emphasise the Black Panther. I hope I'm wrong.”

Other than the brief synopsis, no other details regarding the series have been released as of yet, which means fans will have to wait for plot details, synopsis, a release date and a cast announcement.

Last year the sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever charted as 2022's second-best opening at the domestic box office at $181.3million (£143million) after Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

With no details released, it is unknown how and whether the new series will be tied into the Black Panther film series.
