THE Home Alone films have been the staple of Christmas ever since they were released over three decades ago.
The 90s movies made a star out of child actor Macaulay Culkin, who played the ever resourceful Kevin McCallister.

Macaulay Culkin was born on August 26, 1980, and is an American actor, author and musician.
He started his career as a child actor, appearing in films like Rocket Gibraltar (1988), and Uncle Buck (1989).

How old was Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone?
Macaulay was only 10 years old when he starred in the hit movie Home Alone.
His character in the movie, Kevin, mentions that he is 8-years-old, but in reality, the actor was two years older than his character.
He was then 12-years-old when he appeared in Home Alone 2.
In case you didn't know, Home Alone centres around a young boy who is left home alone by mistake by his parents, after they jet off to Paris.
He then has to save the family home from being robbed by two burglars.

After the success of Home Alone, he went on to star in My Girl (1991), The Good Son (1993), The Pagemaster (1994) and Richie Rich (1994).
Macaulay was then absent from movies for nearly a decade, before returning to acting to star in the film Party Monster (2003) and Saved! (2004).
In early December 2023, the actor thrilled fans when he reunited with his Home Alone mum.
Actress Catherine O’Hara, who played Kate McCallister, supported Macaulay at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles.
In a heartfelt speech, Macaulay's onscreen mum reflected on watching him become an international star at the age of 10.
She said: “Home Alone was, is, and always will be a beloved global sensation.
“The reason families all over the world can’t let a year go by without watching and loving Home Alone together is because of Macaulay Culkin.”
Meanwhile, since 2017, the star has been in a relationship with actress Brenda Song, who is a former Disney star.
Brenda gave birth in April 2021, in Los Angeles, with her and Macaulay’s son Dakota.
In January 2022, it was announced that Macaulay and Brenda had got engaged, less than a year after welcoming Dakota.
Then in December 2022, the couple welcomed another baby.
In an interview in December 2023, Macaulay revealed what his eldest son Dakota thought about his movie, Home Alone.
Speaking to ET, he said: "I already showed it to him last year, he thinks it's so funny.
"I convinced my oldest that he's the kid in the movie. I said, 'Remember you had yellow hair? Remember when you were getting the bad guys?'
"He's like, 'Yeah!' He is such a liar. I'm like, 'You don't remember any of that.'"
Meanwhile, the star was also previously married when he was a teenager.
During his hiatus from acting in the 90s, he was able to focus on his education, attending the Professional Children's School in New York City.
