Dak Prescott has revealed that the Dallas Cowboys planned their Turkey-eating celebration days before in the lead up to their Thanksgiving Thursday game.

The Cowboys pulled off another dominant win on the American holiday when they defeated their division rival Washington Commanders with Prescott throwing for four touchdowns and scoring 45 points.

After throwing the third touchdown, finding wide receiver Kevontae Turpin up the seam for a 34-yard score - Prescott and his Cowboy teammates were seen huddling around the Salvation Army kettle near the end zone.

Prescott had been around it for a few seconds before pulling out a turkey leg and pulling up his helmet and taking a bite, before returning to the bench to celebrate with his team.

The NFL is usually extremely strict about celebrating touchdowns - not allowing players to do so for too long and having a strict policy against using props.

"We talked about it, it was probably a two-, three-daylong process. Whether it'd be a 15-yard (penalty), whether coach (Mike McCarthy) would accept it. I actually go talk to coach before every game, and sure enough I caught him as he was talking to Jerry (Jones). So, I mentioned it. Of course Jerry liked it.

"At that point my direction was to just make sure we're up and the game was in hand. The touchdown to CeeDee (Lamb) and the following two-point conversion, if you watch, I'm kind of like, 'Is it time? Can we do it?' I'm like, 'Nah, we'll get another one.' Sure enough, right after the one to Turp it's like, yeah, let's go for it. And it was good."

The NFL holds three games on Thanksgiving - each running consecutively and being prime time games - with teams usually celebrating with a Turkey after a victory.

And it was a win which the Cowboys will have known was coming after just a few minutes with the team putting in another dominant performance.

As well as Prescott scoring four touchdowns, defensive star Daron Bland set an NFL record with five interceptions returned for a touchdown - the most ever in a season with six games of the season left to play.

The Cowboys look to be in strong contention to compete for a Super Bowl - one which has evaded them for almost 30 years with the team's most successful team failing to win a championship since 1995.
